YONEX signed tennis star Monica Seles, the latest of many world class players to endorse YONEX racquets. With YONEX, Monica became the youngest woman player to achieve a World #1 Ranking and has won numerous "Grand Slam" titles.

Signed three-time winner of the All American College Championships Phil Mickelson (USA).

Yonex Shuttlecocks were selected as the only Shuttle to be used at the Barcelona Olympics.

Advanced into Snowboard Business in Japan. YONEX introduced the first Graphite Composite Snowboard.

Yonex Country Club in Niigata prefecture opened (Par 72, 6986 yards)

Yonex was named as Official Licensee of the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games and was also named the Games Official Badminton Equipment Supplier.

15-year-old Martina Hingis became the youngest ever Wimbledon Champion as she won the ladies doubles title.

1997

Martina Hingis (Switzerland) attained No.1 position in world ranking at the age 16 years. The youngest ever in tennis history.

Minoru Yoneyama became Chairman of Yonex Group appointed Kosaku Yoneyama as new President of Yonex.

The YONEX Sports Development Foundation was established to support all levels of youth, high school, and university sports development and education. This was established as a non-profit foundation.

YONEX had world ranked #1 tennis players for both men and ladies with Marcelo Rios and Martina Hingis.

1999

Chairman Minoru Yoneyama received the Special Meritorious Award from Badminton Association of England, for his continuous support to All England Badminton Championships. This award was handed to Chairman Minoru Yoneyama from Prince Andrew, at the sight of the 100th All England Badminton Championships.

2000

Yonex became the Official Badminton Equipment Supplier to the Sydney Olympics.

Advanced into Walking Shoes Business in Japan, using a new shock absorbing material named Power Cushion.

2001

Lleyton Hewitt (Australia) became the youngest No.1 player in history at the end of the year.
Yonex Niigata Production Head Office received Certification of the International Standard "ISO 14001".

2002

Set up the Distributor in China and open up Chinese market.
Lleyton Hewitt (Australia) became the No.1 player in two straight years with MP Tour-1.

2003

Agreement with Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) to acquire the right to be the Official Racquet of the ATF.

World Championships 2003 was ruled by all YONEX winners.

2004

YONEX became the Official Badminton Equipment Supplier to the Athens Olympics.

Awarded "Super Brand" in Indonesia (2003 / 2004), Malaysia (2003 / 2004) and Singapore (2004).

Signed Colin Montgomerie (Scotland), a 7-time European Tour Order of Merit winner, who plays with Cyberstar Powerbrid Woods and Cyberstar VX irons. He has had 37 tournament victories around the world as well.
