The Seeds for Australian Open 2013 Are Set

The first Grand Slam tournament of this year, Australian Open 2013 starts on Monday, January 14th. The seeds for singles events have been announced on the official website, and 6 YONEX players are going to compete as seeded players. In the men’s singles, Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) plays as No.11 seed, Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) as No.16. While on the women’s side, the world top 5 player Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100) enters the tournament as No.5 seed, the quarterfinalist of last year Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE Xi 100) as No.10, Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) as No.13 and Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) as No.14.

Today Ricardas Berankis (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) and Hiroki Moriya (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN) played the 1st round of the men’s qualifying singles. Ricardas faced Peter Gojowczyk of Germany and defeated the opponent in straight sets by 6-3 6-4.
