Inthanon Takes Home Thailand Open GPG Title

Thailand’s hopeful shuttler, Ratchanok Inthanon (ARC-FB, SHB01-LX) captured Thailand Open GPG title on Sunday, June 9th. The world No. 5 Ratchanok is still 18 years old, however, she has made brilliant achievements this year including India Open Superseries title in April.
In the women’s singles final, second seeded Ratchanok faced her fellow Busanan Ongbumrungpan. Busanan managed to win the close first game, but Ratchanok was very solid enough to control the other two games. She was really happy to win her home country’s title in front of Thai crowd.
Greysia Polii (NR700RP) of Indonesia, who is former world No. 5 in the women’s doubles won the title with Nitya Krishinda Maheswari. Against Japan’s Yuriko Miki and Koharu Yonemoto, Greysia and Nitya attacked so fast to earn 10 smash winners and 6 net winners while the opponents made 4 smash and 2 net winners. The Indonesian pair completed the match in 33 minutes with 21-7 21-13.
In the men’s singles, No. 13 seed Srikanth K. (ARC10) from India defeated home favorite and No. 1 seed Boonsak Ponsana. It was Srikanth’s first major tournament final and he broke through to win the title.
