Lee Chong Wei Advances to the Semi-Finals with Three Straight-Game Victories

Dominating all his matches with straight-game victories in the round robin, the world No.1 Lee Chong Wei (VTZF, SHB01LTD) has triumphantly made it to the semi-finals in this year’s BWF World Superseries Finals. Danish Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP) and Christinna Pedersen(NR800, SHB-01LX) also won all three matches, advancing to the semi-finals.
Against European Champion Jan O Jorgensen, Chong Wei delivered powerful smashes, playing almost seamlessly. In an attempt to keep up, Jan managed to bring each game to 20-all, but Chong Wei’s wasn’t going to be taken down. Despite leading in the second game at 14-8, Jan lost, with the final score coming to 23-21, 24-22. Kenichi Tago (NR-ZSP)(JPN) and Tommy Sugiarto (ARC11, SHB01LTD) also advanced to the semi-finals in men’s singles.
World No. 2 Kamilla/Christinna endured a tough three-game match against world No. 1 Chinese duo, Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang (F). Kamilla/Christinna defeated their opponents for the first time with a score of 21-11 16-21 21-15.
Pairing with Joachim Fischer in the mixed doubles, Christinna also won all three matches in the round robin. They defeated the world champion Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia by 21-19 21-12. Malaysian pair, Chan Peng Soon (ARC10, SHBF1NLTD)/Goh Liu Ying (NR-ZSP, SHBF1NLX) secured their spot in the semi-finals after defeating Markis Kido/Pia Zebadiah Bernandeth, 21-18 21-19.
