Sindhu, Hoon & Tan Win Macau Open Grand Prix Gold

Young Indian star Sindhu P.V. (NR700RP) and Malaysian Hoon Thien How (VTZF)/Tan Wee Kiong (VTZF) won at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold on Sunday, December 1st.

The No. 1 seed in women’s singles, Sindhu, faced Michelle Li (AT900T) of Canada, who had recently become the first North American player to reach the final of Canada’s Grand Prix Gold. Sindhu had an intense match in the semi-final against China’s Qin Jinjing with 21-13 18-21 21-19, however, she displayed very stable performance in the final, minimizing errors. After a 38-minute match, Sindhu took her second Grand Prix Gold title with a score of 21-15 21-12.

Hoon and Tan, runners-up at the China Open in November, were seeded as No. 2 in men’s doubles. They played against No. 1 seed Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin of Chinese Taipei in the final and defeated their opponents with 21-16 21-19 to bag their first ever career title.
