Yonex Stringing Team and Kento Momota express thanks, mutual support

09 October 2018

At last month’s DAIHATSU YONEX Japan Open 2018, the Yonex Stringing Team was back again, with top stringers from all over the world stringing players’ racquets for practice and competition. The Yonex Stringing Team provides stringing service at various international tournaments and conventions, utilizing the latest technology and high-performance Yonex stringing machines, backed by robust experience from the world’s best stringers.

Kento Momota, who won his first Japan Open title at this year’s tournament, after defeating some of badminton’s biggest names, such as Lin Dan and then-current World No. 1, Viktor Axelsen, received support from the Yonex Stringing Team, and in particular, from Kenichi Nakahara (Racket Shop Fuji), who was in charge of stringing Momota’s racquets. We asked Momota and Nakahara to give us their thoughts on Momota’s first Japan Open win, and his eventual World No. 1 ranking.

Kento Momota
“I’m grateful for the constant support of the Yonex Stringing Team. Mr. Nakahara has always stood by me. He meets my stringing requests flawlessly but he’s also really saved me by paying attention to my play and making subtle adjustments to my strings. I have total confidence in Mr. Nakahara and the Yonex Stringing Team. I believe that’s one of my weapons on court.”

Kenichi Nakahara
“Congratulations on your victory, Momota! It is the greatest feeling to watch our players perform remarkably and win. This time, I’m as happy as if I won the championship myself. While we could see you tiring through the tournament, the team and I did our best to continue to contribute to your eventual victory. I will continue to support you into the future, confident in your play and abilities. It would also be great if badminton fans would like to know more about the importance of strings — which come in direct contact with the shuttle — and the professional work that goes into faithfully matching the right strings and fitting with the player.”

Top players have extraordinary trust in the abilities, sense of responsibility and technology the Yonex Stringing Team employs to contribute to their goals of victory. These intersected beautifully at the DAIHATSU YONEX Japan Open 2018, resulting in a first-place win. The Yonex Stringing Team will continue to work as a "best partner" for the support of the players and the success of the tournament.
