Sun-Ju Ahn Pays a Visit to YONEX’s Main Niigata Factory
- 04 June 2014
This week, June 6th, 2014, will mark the first day of the YONEX Ladies Golf Tournament. Running since 1999, it is a yearly tournament on the LPGA of Japan Tour, held at the scenic Yonex Country Club in Niigata, Japan. This year’s prize money is 60 million yen, with the winner’s share at 10.8 million.
On a roll with two wins this season, YONEX golfer Sun-Ju Ahn is currently in Japan for YONEX Ladies. She recently paid visits to the production head office in Niigata and the YONEX shaft factory in Nagaoka city, observing the technology that produces YONEX’s famous carbon clubs and shafts first-hand. She also visited the YONEX Driving Range. Taking great interest in the production process, Ahn took a look at in-progress clubs, and asked insightful questions about how the tools she uses on a regular basis are made.
“I was incredibly moved after seeing the staff toiling to make my club. I will play even harder with this new club,” commented Ahn after witnessing the making of her club.
From the 6th to the 8th fans will be able to see Ahn’s excellent performance at YONEX Ladies, her first YONEX tournament. Be sure to cheer her on!
We had a camera crew tag along with Ahn, and a video of her visits to the two factories and the driving range can be found on YouTube. Check it out!
