Kyrgios Advances to Second Round with EZONE Ai

15 January 2014

18-year-old Australian Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98), who won the junior Grand Slam title at home last year, made his debut in the main draw of the Australian Open on Tuesday, January 14th. Facing Benjamin Becker of Germany in the first round match, Nick scored his second win at a Grand Slam tournament since he reached the second round in Paris last year.

World No. 183 Nick played aggressively against the world No.81 German player. He exhibited superior offensive performance, earning 34 aces and 71 winners throughout the match. Furthermore, Nick boasted very solid service games, scoring 91% of his first serve points. Capturing the tie-break in the fourth set, the Australian teenager took a big step at his home tournament with a 6-3 6-7(5) 6-2 7-6(2) win.

Nick has switched his racquet to the EZONE Ai 98 for the 2014 season. He really likes the racquet because it generates more power, and allows him to hit the ball with less vibration, according to our interview with him. Protecting the user’s elbow very well, the EZONE Ai racquet provides comfort for those with aggressive playing styles. More information on the EZONE Ai series can be found on its official site linked below!
