Wawrinka faces Defending Champion in Quarterfinals

20 January 2014

Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G, SHT-PROEX) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-6(3), 7-6(5) win against No. 17 seed Tommy Robredo of Spain in the fourth round in Melbourne on Sunday. Showing his superior attacking ability with 14 aces and 57 winners, Stan overpowered the opponent to win the close battle after two tie-breaks.

In the next round, Stan faces the defending champion Novak Djokovic. They had a tough five-set match in Melbourne last year, and Stan aims for taking revenge. “It's going to be really difficult.  But I'm trying every time to improve.  I'm practicing to play that kind of match, a quarterfinal here against one of the best player in the world.  I will have a chance to try to beat him.  That's the most important,” he talked according to the Australian Open official website.

Please keep up your support for Stan playing the big match!
