Wawrinka Ready for Big Match against Defending Champion
- 21 January 2014
Reaching his fifth quarterfinal in a Grand Slam tournament, eighth seeded Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G, SHT-PROEX) faces defending champion Novak Djokovic once again in Melbourne, in what will certainly be a match to remember.
They had two five-set battles in the Grand Slams at Melbourne and New York last year, and Stan will go head-to-head against this tough rival who won six major titles, including three consecutive victories at the Australian Open, once again.
Before today’s important match, Stan is simply concentrating on staying calm so he can play well against the Serbian player. “I’m going to prepare like always. I’m going to practice and try to see what I can change from the past match against him. He’s one of the toughest player to beat, to play, especially in Grand Slam. It’s going to be really tough, but I will try again,” he said in a press interview in Melbourne.
Stan’s quarterfinal match is going to start today at 7:00 PM local time. Be sure to watch what promises to be an incredible match!
In the women’s singles quarterfinals, Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) faced 19-year-old Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, following her great victory against top seeded Serena Williams in the fourth round. Ana played aggressively and persevered in the intense match, but she unfortunately lost by 7-5, 5-7, 2-6.
Meanwhile in mixed doubles, another EZONE Ai player, Zheng Jie(EZONE Ai 98, PTGSPN), advanced to the quarterfinals with her partner Scott Lipsky, defeating top seeded duo Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Alexander Peya from one set behind with a 2-6, 7-6(5), [10-5] score line.
