Hewitt Runner-up in Newport
- 16 July 2013
32-year-old veteran Lleyton Hewitt (VCORE Tour 97) entered the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport last week. The No. 4 seed Australian was the runner-up for two consecutive years defeating the 2011 and 2012 champion John Isner en route.
Lleyton faced John Isner in the semifinals. The No. 2 seed American, standing at 206cm tall, has an extremely powerful serve, but Lleyton managed to make 15 break chances against this big server. Capturing 5 breaks throughout the match, he defeated his opponent in 2 hours 11 minutes with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 score line. After their meeting in Newport’s final last year, Lleyton got his revenge this time around.
In the WTA, Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) competed at the Hungarian Grand Prix with Lucie Hradecka. They faced Nina Bratchikova / Anna Tatishvili in the final and overwhelmed their opponents in straight sets [6-4, 6-1]. Andrea won her thirteenth WTA doubles title of her career.
