Kerber Overcomes Opponent in Second Round
- 26 September 2012
Tuesday, September 25th marked day three of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis. Two VCORE players, Angelique Kerber (VCORE) and Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE) showed solid performance, and advanced to the 3rd round of women’s singles.
No. 5 seed Angelique faced local Japanese Ayumi Morita (EZONE Xi, PTGSPN) in the second round. The German exceeded her opponent’s abilities, especially in her service games. Angelique scored points over 70% of the time in her successful first serves. After 3 breaks, she defeated the opponent in straight sets by 6-3, 6-4.
Angelique left us a comment for this tournament: “Happy to be in Tokyo! Come and support me.” She also left a message in Japanese saying, “I will do my best.”
“YONEX is improving every year and I'm trying to change the racquet at least once in two or three years. Every time I change, my level of tennis has been improved a lot. I have been using this string for two years, I just love them and I will continue to play with this one. I don't wanna change it to anything else because I feel so good,” she commented.
