30 April 2013

One of WTA Premier tournaments, Porsche Tennis Grand Prix has held from April 22nd to the 28th in  Stuttgart, Germany. YONEX player Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) entered the doubles event as the wild card, and impressed local fans to claim the title with Mona Barthel in home country.

After defeating Darija Jurak / Katalin Marosi who overcame No. 4 seeds Raquel Kops-Jones / Abigail Spears, Sabine and her partner faced Bethanie Mattek-Sands / Sania Mirza in the final. They were tough opponents who won the opener against second seeds Nadia Petrova / Katarina Srebotnik, but the German pair showed solid performances to keep all their service games while they achieved to break 3 times. Sabine and Mona played very well throughout the tournament enough to become the champions, and It was Sabine’s second doubles title in Stuttgart since she won this title with Samantha Stosur in 2011.

Now Sabine is competing at WTA tournaments with YONEX tennis string POLYTOUR SPIN, which became “Newcomer of the Year 2012” in the tennis string community site, Stringforum. (German version)

She is pleased with the pentagon-shaped string, “I get more power and control with this string. Even after the bounce, my shots never lose spin. I like this blue colour very much and hope to play well with this string during the season.”
