YONEX Youth Advance to Junior Semifinals

16-year-old YONEX players, Borna Coric (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) and Belinda Bencic (EZONE Xi, PTGH125), took the big step toward the junior Roland Garros title on Day 12.

Eighth-seeded Borna faced Number 13 seed Guillermo Nunez of Chile in the boy’s singles quarterfinals. The Croatian hope especially exceeded in serving performance yesterday, and took the lead in his service games by winning 75% of the points on his first serve with 5 aces. Meanwhile in receiving, Borna achieved five of his 7 break chances to secure a victory in straight sets [6-2, 6-3].

In the girl’s singles, No. 2 seed Belinda also competed in the quarterfinals against No. 11 seed American Taylor Townsend, who was a tough rival with the 2012 Australian Open junior singles title. After losing the first set, Belinda kept playing steadily to come from behind and won. She capitalized on all her 2 break chances for capturing the second set, and had the edge on the opponent in the tough decider to win a hard-fought victory [2-6, 6-2, 9-7].

On Day 13, three YONEX players, Borna, Belinda and Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125), appear on red clay to play at their semifinals. Please keep up your support for their further progress in Roland Garros!
