VCORE Players Semifinalists in Casablanca and Houston

Date
15 April 2013

Last week saw a few YONEX players competing on clay courts. Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) participated in the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco and Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) competed at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston. Both finished as semifinalists.

This year Stan has impressed fans with his close five-hour-and-two-minute match against the world’s No.1 player, Novak Djokovic, at the Australian Open. “It gives me the confidence to hit the ball aggressively, with more power and more spin on both my backhand and forehand shots. This racquet is the perfect partner for my game,” commented Stan on the racquet’s ability to make aggressive plays.

It was Juan’s first semifinal in 2013, and he has been playing to regain his form for the tournament he won last year.

This week in Monte-Carlo, they will both challenge the Masters Tournament .

Lithuanian talent Ricardas Berankis (EZONE Xi 98PTGP125) also played in Houston, and he progressed to the quarterfinals after defeating No. 2 seed veteran Tommy Haas in straight sets by 6-3 6-3.
