Wawrinka Debuts in ATP Word Tour Finals with Victory

The season finale of ATP Tour, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, kicked off in London on Monday, November 4th. Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97), the third Swiss player to qualify for the Tour Finals after Roger Federer and Jakob Hlasek, played spectacularly on his first appearance, defeating Tomas Berdych in the Group A opener.

Stan said, “For sure, it’s special to win my first match here. I feel really proud to be here. It means that I'm playing amazing tennis, especially all the year,” according to the tournament official website. He competed with confidence on his first big stage in London, overcoming his opponent with 6-3, 6-7(0), 6-3. During the two-hour-and-25-minute match, Stan hit 43 winners and saved all his service games for victory.

To advance to the semifinals, Stan will have two more matches against David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal in Group A.
