Wawrinka Makes Semifinal in Tour Finals Debut

Defeating the world No. 3 Spaniard, David Ferrer, in the final round-robin match 6-7(3) 6-4 6-1, Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) achieved to reach the last four with two victories in the group stage at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Stan proved his ability against world top ranked rivals on his first appearance, although he lost to Novak Djokovic on Sunday’s semifinal match.
The 28-year-old Stan became the first player to reach the semifinals in his tournament debut since Robin Soderling in 2009. Following two victories in the ATP World Tour Finals, he ended his journey this year to win 51 matches through the season as his career best. Also, Stan will finish a career-highest No. 8 in the ATP rankings.
