Wawrinka Overcomes Top Seed for Title in Portugal

07 May 2013

VCORE player Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) claimed his fourth ATP Tour title at the clay court tournament Portugal Open in Oeiras last week.

Second-seeded Stan made it to the final, meeting the top seed David Ferrer—world No. 4 player and a clay-court expert with ten titles on the court. In the first set, Stan played very aggressively with strong forehand winners, winning five games in a row, and captured the set in just 30 minutes by 6-1. He exhibited brilliant performance, especially in his service games, winning 36 of 42 service points, not giving a single break chance to his tough opponent. With another break in the second set, Stan overwhelmed David Ferrer for the title in straight sets by 6-1, 6-4.

Stan competed wearing the SHT-308 series’ clay court model, which has received the Gold Medal in French tennis magazine tennisaddict three years in a row. Check out the video below to see Stan test our unique POWER CUSION shoe technology!
