Wawrinka's Great Serves Bring Victory

On the weekend, four YONEX advisory staff players advanced to the fourth round of the US Open.

Smashing with his VCORE Tour 97, No. 18 seed Stanislas Wawrinka dominated in his match against Alexandr Dolgopolov. Stanislas excelled over his opponent, especially in his serves, earning 15 service aces throughout the match. He took the initiative with his serves such that his opponent couldn’t convert any break chances. In the end, Stanislas defeated the Ukrainian player in straight sets, 6-4 6-4 6-2.

In women’s singles, No. 12 seed Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) faced Sloane Stephens. Ana played aggressively, earning 27 points with her net plays. Ana, who earned 37 winners during the match, won the last two sets. Despite losing the first set, she defeated her opponent by 6-7(4) 6-4 6-2 after breaking seven times.

No. 6 seed Angelique Kerber (VCORE 100S) achieved an overwhelming victory against Olga Govortsova. Throughout the match, Angelique played very accurately making a mere seven unforced errors while her opponent had 29. Also, she converted six of seven break chances. Angelique’s solid performance brought her victory, and the final score was 6-1 6-2.

Today on Day 8, three YONEX female players are set to play at the fourth round. Angelique will face No. 10 seed Sara Errani, Ana will play against Tsvetana Pironkova, Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) will meet No. 4 seed Serena Williams.
