Date-Krumm Achieves Historic Victory in Wimbledon
- 28 June 2013
Kimiko faced Alexandra Cadantu of Romania and defeated the opponent in straight sets [6-4, 7-5]. By the result, she has become the oldest woman to reach the third round of Wimbledon in the Open era. Kimiko has set to that stage for the first time since she became the 1996 Wimbledon semifinalist.
At the next fight, Kimiko meets the defending champion Serena Williams.
Bernard faced American veteran James Blake, who is the former world number four player. He played steadily against the experienced opponent trying to keep unforced errors to be a minimum. His serves were strong enough to secure 76% of his first serve points throughout the match. Capturing five break points of the eight chances, Bernard won the second round match in straight sets [6-3, 6-4, 7-5].
Number 23 seed Sabine won a overwhelming victory against Elena Vesnina of Russia with a 6-3, 6-1 score line. She is pleased with her VCORE Tour racquet, “My racquet has the compact frame with larger sweet spot, and it gives me a faster swing to hit the ball strongly. I also use YONEX Poly Tour SPIN string, which is very durable to maintain the great spin performance throughout a match.”
