VCORE Players Achieve Big Wins to Reach 4th Round

01 July 2013

Attacking with the VCORE Tour racquet, Bernard Tomic (VCORE Tour 97) and Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) overcame tough rivals in the third round of Wimbledon on the sixth day, June 29th.

After defeating American veteran James Blake in straight sets, Bernard faced ninth seeded Richard Gasquet of France. They kept their service games solidly and Bernard was under such a big pressure that he had to save break points all time. He showed persistent play against the opponent’s attacks and managed to capture close three sets. Winning a big victory after such a tough fight with a 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5) score line, Bernard sets to the next challenge against world top six ranked Tomas Berdych in the fourth round.

Number 23 seed Sabine played against the 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur last Saturday. She secured 80% of her first serve points to keep her service games, meanwhile she achieved four of nine break points. Earning 34 winners and 8 service aces throughout the match, Sabine overcame the tough opponent by 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

To reach the quarterfinals in Wimbledon for three consecutive years, Sabine faces the defending champion Serena Williams in the fourth round.
