Yonex contracted player Ana Ivanovic is playing with the original RQiS 1 Tour.

UX Spec. is a little lighter than original RQiS 1 Tour and suitable for various players.
With this racquet, you can play without feeling worried about the power shortage which may always be a problem of the light racquet.
As the balance point is near to the top of the racquet, it is possible for you to hit a ball powerfully.

Roland Garros 2008 Review

[Roland Garros '08] …2008/06/10
All yonex players attracted us by their great performances.

Ana Ivanovic (RQiS 1 Tour) won the first Grand Slam title and she climbed up to world No.1 at the same time. She lost only one set throughout the tournament and held her composure through each round.
Ana is the first Serbian woman to win the major tournament.

The 2004 runner-up, Elena Dementieva (RDS 001 MP) reached the quarter-finals. She played really bravely, especially in the quarter-finals, Elena met 13th seeded Dinara Safina (RUS) and had a big fight.

Lleyton Hewitt (RDS 001), who was the former world No.1, reached the 3rd round and met 5th seeded David Ferrer (ESP). In the match, he won two sets of first three but lost a narrow margin. It was totally a close finish. One of the most impressive things in the match was Lleyton's sporting behaviour. It was really admirable.

Mario Ancic (RDS 002 Tour) who overcame his injuries and illness this year had a great performance. He defeated seeded player en route. Moreover, Mario met world top Roger Federer (SUI) in the 3rd round and made a good fight.

Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak (RDS 003 MP) won the first Grand Slam match of her career in Roland Garros 2008. She reached the 3rd round defeating 20th seeded Sybille Bammer (AUT) en route. Now, her rank jumped up to 93 from 143. We are looking forward to her future performance!

Next Grand Slam, Wimbledon is coming on June 23. Let’s support Yonex star players!

Don’t miss the biggest lawn tournament in London!

Field Report from Roland Garros

[Roland Garros '08] …2008/05/29
Now, I'm a Yonex staff in the court where David Nalbandian (RDS 001MP) is practicing. He has been practicing with his coach in the court just behind Yonex booth for one hour. He seems to be really in good shape in this tournament and he defeated Carlos Berlocq easily, who is also from Argentina.

During the tournament, a lot of players spend one or two hours getting condition ready for the games, but Mischa Zverev (RDS 001MP) takes for 3 to 4 hours. He is now pumped up for his doubles' game.

This year the surface of the court in Roland Garros is harder than usual and balls bounce well. "Balls bounce well, so it's easy for me to attack", Ana Ivanovic (RQiS1Tour) said. Pay attention to her attack as No.2 seed in Roland Garros!

Yonex International Stringing Team

[Roland Garros '08] …2008/05/15
The Yonex International Stringing Team is a specialist group that provides an advanced stringing service to YONEX sponsored players. Dai Kobayashi, from Yonex Japan, is an experienced member of this team, gives us an insight into another area of a tournament.

- What tournaments have you strung at?

DK: Wimbledon in 06 and 07, Australian Open in 07 and 08. Usually 2 stringers attend each tournament. Around 250 racquets get strung during the tournament. Especially the Australian Open this year were Yonex players performed well, Ana Ivanovic reached the singles final, Zheng Jie/Yan Zi the semi-final etc. It meant we had less time off but we were happy the players performed so well.

- Any special requests from players?

DK: Many players go on court with 4 or 5 racquets. However if it there is a rain delay and only 1 racquet has been used the players often ask for all of their racquets to be re-strung. Often they will only decide the tension they require on the morning of their match. These requests are because they want to maximise the chance of them performing well and also, I think it also indicates the players' reliance and trust in our stringing team.

- What do the players think about your team?

DK: I believe they trust our stringing technique. I have been told on many occasions that "We, as players, are grateful that the Yonex team is always there and helps us with advanced, stable stringing technique." While many players have to rely on the official stringing service at each tournament, we have been trying to provide Yonex players with the racquets they need.

- What is your objective as a member of Yonex International Stringing Team?

DK: Stringers must not cause players any 'surprises', and have to provide them with identical products. On that point, the Yonex stringing machine, ES5PRO helps us a great deal with its accuracy and reliability. For example, the clamp is easy to grip and move. It is a very 'attentive' machine.

Dai will be going to Paris this year to help players perform at their best. He will be punctual as usual with his workload, which is like the Japanese railway system.

As you may know, Ana Ivanovic used her Yonex racquet RQiS1Tour at the beginning of the year for the first time, and she has performed well this season.

Moreover, Maria Kirilenko and Nicole Vaidisova are going to play with RQiS2Tour and it is hoped that they will give good performances.

Roland Garros 2007 Review

[Roland Garros '08] …2008/05/13
At last years Roland Garros, it was difficult for the players to keep their concentration because of the long and frequent rain delays on Day 1 and 2 of the tournament.

In spite of the bad weather conditon, Yonex players did their best.

Both David Nalbandian (RDS001MP) and Lleyton Hewitt (RDS001) unfortunately couldn't reach the Quarter-final, but their games were very close. Unfortunately, Mario Ancic ( RDS002Tour) couldn't take part last year due to persistent injuries and bad health.

However, this year he is fit and could be a player to watch.

The most important feature at Roland Garros last year was the remarkable performances of the Serbians. Ana Ivanovic (RQiS1Tour) was one of them, she reached the final, but sadly missed the oppotunity to claim her first Grand Slam title.

At the beginning of the year, she changed to her new racquet "RQiS1Tour". At the first Grand Slam with her new racquet, the Australian Open, she reached the final. We expect a great performance at Roland Garros as well.

We believe, at Roland Garros 2008, Yonex players will perform the best ever.
