Maria Advanced to the Quarter Final in Women’s Doubles!!

On Sep 5th and 6th,
In women’s doubles, No.10 seeded pair, Maria Kirilenko (RQiS 2 TOUR) and Elena Vesnina advanced to the quarter finals. They will play against a No.13 seeded duo, Alisa Kleybanova and Ekaterina Makarova from the same home-country, Russia.
The pair of Zheng Jie (RDiS 300 MP) and Yan Zi advanced to the 3rd round in women’s doubles. They will meet up with the duo of Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama in the next game.
In the Junior Boys' singles, Yonex player, No.7 seeded Andrea Collarini (RDiS 100MP) defeated

On September 3rd, the rest of women’s singles second round finished. Thirty two players are left in the next round now.
No.21 seeded Zheng Jie (RDiS 300 MP)
had a victory over Alize Cornet. The score was 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. In the next game, she will go against No.13 seeded Nadia Petrova from Russia. She had the same match card in April 2009, and Zheng couldn’t advance to next round. This time at the US Open will be a revenge match for her.
Meanwhile No. four seeded Elena Dementieva (RDiS 100 MID PLUS)
played against 17 year old Melanie Oudin from the US at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but she could not reach the fourth round with score of 7-5, 4-6, 3-6.

On September 2nd, the first round of the men’s and women’s singles finished up and the second round started. Two Yonex players upset seeded players in the second round. Lleyton Hewitt (RDiS 100) will compete against Roger Federer in the third round.
In the men’s singles, Yonex player, Lleyton Hewitt won against Juan Ignacio Chela in the second round with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 straight games. Llyeton will meet up the world No.1, Roger Federer in the third round. US Open started. The score was 3-6, 4-6, and Lleyton could not advance to the semifinals.
Aleksandra Wozniak (RDS 003MP) had a victory over two-time Grand Slam tournament winner, Amelie Mauresmo in the second round. The score was 6-4, 6-0. Aleksandra will play 10th seeded Flavia Pennetta in the third round.
Maria Kirilenko (RQiS 2 TOUR) defeated No.12th seeded Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round by 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The first round of the US Open 2009 continued on Tuesday in New York.
Five Yonex ladies had their first round games on Tuesday.
The world ranked No.4, Elena Dementieva (RDiS 100 MID PLUS)
keeps in top condition at the US Open 2009. She had a victory at the Roger Cup on Aug 23rd and today Elena beat Camille Pin from France with score of 6-1, 6-2 in the first round. She will face Melanie Oudin from the US in the second round.
Another contracted player, Zheng Jie Zheng Jie (RDiS 300 MID PLUS) as No.21 seed, won over Anna-Lena Groenefeld from Germany by 6-3, 6-2 straight.
The previous world No.1, Ana Ivanovic (RQiS 1 Tour XL), had a tough game against Kateryna Boundarenko. The game ran into the final set and tie-breaker, but she could not reach to the second round. The score was 6-2, 3-6, 6-7.

The US Open 2009 has just started at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York!
After the first day, half of the men’s and women’s singles players have played games. Six Yonex players had exciting games in the first round as well.
In the men’s singles, Lleyton Hewitt (RDiS 100), the 2001 US Open champion, appeared on the glory stage. He had a game against Alves Thiago from Brazil and defeated him in a straight game with the score of 6-0, 6-3, and 6-4.
In the women’s singles, there was a big surprise. In her first time appearance at the US Open,
Kai-chen Chang (RDiS 300 MID PLUS)defeated No.25 seeded Kaia Kanepi by 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.
Maria Kirilenko (RQiS 2 TOUR), Aleksandra Wozniak(RDS 003 MP) favorably advanced in the second round as well.

On August 27th, the US Open draws were opened and Yonex players’ meetings have been fixed.
In Women's Singles draw, Yonex contracted player Kai-chen Chang (RDiS 300 MP) has qualified to main draw and is going to face 25th seeded Kaia Kanepi (EST) at the 1st round. This is her first Grand Slam main draw.
Olivia Rogowska (RDS 002) also entered the main draw as a wild card.
In the second quarter of the draw, Elena Dementieva (RDiS 100 MP) and this year's Roland Garros Champion Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) will meet at quarter finals. As you know, Elena has had better results at the hard court in this season as she had won the Rogers Cup last week.
