China’s Zheng Jie (RDS 003 MP), ranked 133, blazed onto the battle at Wimbledon 2008. Zheng's glorious wins over seed players let her rocket to the semi-final. She defeated many powerful players to meet Serena Williams in the semi-final and became the first Chinese woman who reached the Ladies’ singles semifinals of Grand Slam.


Mario Ancic (RDS 002 Tour), the quarter finalist of Wimbledon 2008, proved that he really came back and showed us his tactics, great technique and great footwork. Especially in his quarter-final, he fought bravely against the former champion Roger Federer (SUI). It has been famouse that he defeated the Federer on grass at Wimbledon 2002. We hope we can see his great performances in the follow-on tournaments.


Elena Dementieva (RDS 001 MP), the semi finalist of this year, advanced to her first Wimbledon semi-final. It was stable and steady advancement in the tournament, we could see her mental growth and we could expect that she would advance further than before. The semi-final was against Venus Williams, it seemed a bit tough for her, but we hope she will win more games at Wimbledon next year.


Nicole Vaidisova (RQiS 2 Tour) became the quarter finalist for the second year in a row. The game she lost was against Yonex contracted player Zheng Jie, who was winning her victory after another. But Nicole had the patience to play and it was certainly admirable. We are looking forward to the exciting games next year not far behind from this year.


Lleyton Hewitt (RDS 001) advanced to the 4th round and met the defending champion Roger Federer. As you know, former champion Lleyton is an all-out athlete, his powerful performances and brave attitude impressed many people.

We are already looking forward to the exciting matches in the next championships, which will be held in USA.

While Mario Ancic (RDS002Tour), who held the distinction of being the last man to beat Federer on grass in the first round here in 2002, fought bravelly and his tactics gave the difending champion a fright, finally he conceded Federer the palm of victory.

But his performance has been admirable after his come back. He had to withdraw from the tournaments last year because of his injuries and sickness, but as at Wimbledon, in the following tournaments, we can expect to see his great technique and great footwork.

On the ladies' side, today, Elena Dementieva (RDS001MP) will meet Venus Williams and Zheng Zie (RDS003MP) will meet Serena Williams respectively on Center Court in Wimbledon.Yes, this is the court tennis players around the world dream of playing on.

Yonex contracted player Zheng Jie (RDS 003 MP) defeated 18th seed Nicole Vaidisova (RQiS2Tour) with 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 in the quarter-finals yesterday.

The 24-year-old who has already beaten three seeds has racked up victories and became the first Chinese woman in the last four of a Grand Slam semi-final!

Nicole, who is also a yonex contracted player, was higher ranked and with a bigger reputation, but Zheng used her gear tactically and her fast forehand was fearsome.

Moreover, according to news reports, surprisingly the semi-finalist Zheng Jie has pledged to donate the prize money she earns from this year's Championships to victims of the Chinese earthquake.
Zheng is going to meet Serena Williams (USA) in the semi-finals.

Elena Dementieva (RDS001MP) reached her first Wimbledon semi-final with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 win over Petrova.
At Roland Garros, Elena built a 6-4, 5-2 lead against Safina, but Safina came back to win the second set in a tie-break, and in the final set Elena failed to win a single game.

However, this time the things were different. Elena had made herself stronger inside and her mental toughness gave her the victory and ticket to the semi-finals.
She will meet the defending champion Venus Williams on Thursday.

Mario Ancic (RDS002Tour), who is the last man who defeated Roger Federer (SUI), will meet the Federer on the grass court at 1:00 PM Today!!

Croatian Mario Ancic (RDS002Tour) defeated Spanish No. 22 seed Fernando Verdasco with 3-6, 4-6, 6-3,6-4, 13-11, the victory took 3 hours 49 minutes.
On Wednesday, Mario, the last man to defeat him on grass, will meet Federer who won the match against Lleyton Hewitt yesterday.

It has been an amazing feat for Zheng Jie (RDS003MP), who has reached the last eight defeating world World No.1 en route.
On Tuesday, Zheng Jie and No.18 Nicole Vaidisova (RQiS2-Tour), both are yonex players, will meet in the Wimbledon quarter-final.

Elena Dementieva (RDS001MP) will be the highest ranked ladies' seed in the quarter-finals after her 6-2, 6-1 win over Shahar Peer.
Elena will play her first Wimbledon quarter-final against Nadia Petrova.

Australia's Lleyton Hewitt (RDS001), the man who was the winner in the year before Roger Federer coronation started, was defeated by the Federer with 7-6 (9-7) 6-2 6-4.
Even he was in poor hip condition, he was still in contention though Lleyton's all-action game is based on a healthy body.

By the third set, It seemed that Lleyton's hip complaint was starting to bother him. But the gallant Lleyton always has been a battler and he played bravelly till the end of the match. The audience gave him a special ovation at the end.

Yesterday was "Middle Sunday" and no games were held.

At the Yonex Wimbledon House, the anual lunch party was held as usual. It was sunny and good for the lunch party. Mario Ancic, Nicole Vaidisova, Lleyton Hewitt,Elena Dementieva, many players showed up for the party and tried Japanese foods which we had prepared.

In the last half of the party, Ana Ivanovic dropped at the house on the way to the airport.
She said she would take a rest and refresh herself, and start training for the next tournament.

Lleyton also dropped in the Yonex house and gave a ticket of the center court to the someone drew a winning number. In addition, the shoes with his signature and wears were presented, the people seemed to have a really good time.

We gave him a driver which is used by Colin Montgomerie, who is a yonex contracted golf player, as a token of appreciation, Lleyton said, "I will play Golf tomorrow, not Tennis." though he was supposed to play his 4th round the next day!!

Each player took Japanese foods as souvenir. Many players know "EDAMAME", green soybeen. Especially Nicole said "I often eat Japanese foods." But she doesn't like Japanese liquor, SAKE, very much.

Amazingly Chinese Zheng Jie (RDS 003 MP) defeated World No.1 Ana Ivanovic (RQiS1Tour) on the 5th day of Wimbledon. The Wimbledon doubles winner in 2006, Zheng, advanced to the next round with 6-1, 6-4. She will meet Agnes Szavay (HUN)[15].


Coming-back Mario Ancic (RDS002 Tour) defeated 5th seeded David Ferrer (ESP) and advanced to the next round. He is going to meet 22nd seeded Fernando Verdasco (ESP).

Moreover, Lleyton Hewitt (RDS001), who was the champion in 2002, is going to play against the defending champion Roger Federer (SUI) in the next round!! It is famouse that he plays really well especially on grass. We hope another great performance by Lleyton today!!

The 4th day, it was a lovely day at Wimbledon, 4 Yonex women players showed the high levels of performances in their matches.

Elena Dementieva (RDS 001 MP), the quarter-finalist in 2006, defeated Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) with 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. While Elena was in trouble when the Swiss teenager led 3-0 in the final set, Elena’s considerable experience won the full-set-battle.
Her next opponent is Gisela Dulko from Argentina.

Moreover, the victory of young Russian Alisa Kleybanova (RDS 003 MP) against the 10th seeded Daniela Hantuchova (SVK), 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 was really amazing. The 3rd Grand Slam main draw for Alisa should be valuable for her. She powerfully played and controlled accurately the ball in the game, and it made the Slovak confused. Throughout the game, Alisa had no less than 10 aces. She will face Japanese Ai Sugiyama in her 3rd round.

On the 3rd day at Wimbledon, many Yonex star players got tickets to the next round.

Ana Ivanovic(RQiS 1 Tour) had a very big fight against French Nathalie Dechy on No.1 Court. Throughout the game, she had to save two match points, and fortunately the net code also helped her. After the three and a half hour-battle, she kissed the net and celebrated her remarkable escape. She will going to face Yonex family, Zheng Jie (RDS 003 MP) from China in the next round.

Lleyton Hewitt (RDS 001) booked his place to the 3rd round with a 7-6(4), 6-0, 6-2 victory over Albert Montanes (ESP). The first set was a little difficult for Lleyton because his opponents was serving well, but in the other sets, Lleyton absolutely had the initiative with his consistent work from the baseline and at the net. He is going to meet Italian Simone Bolelli in the 3rd round.

The 2nd day of Wimbledon, it was another gloriously sunny day.

Yonex players had brilliant performances at Wimbledon. Aleksandra Wozniak (RDS 003 MP), Alisa Kleybanova (RDS 003 MP) and Su-Wei Hsieh (RDS 002 MP) all won straight over their opponents. Especially, Hsieh needed just 26 minutes to win the second set. She is going to face Russian Dinara Safina in the 2nd round.

Elena Dementieva (RDS 001 MP) who is the quarter finalist at Wimbledon two years ago, took the first set from Italian Maria Elena Camerin. They are going to continue the game today with it poised at 3-3 in the second set .

Michaella Krajicek (RDS 002 Tour), who was the doubles winner at the Ordina Open just before she joined Wimbledon, had two tie-break sets against Marina Erakovic (NZL) but lost a narrow margin. At the Yonex House near the All England Lawn, Yonex International Stringing team has been supporting yonex players since their pre-tournament practice.

Ana Ivanovic, David Nalbandian, Mario Ancic, Maria Kirilenko, Michaella Krajicek and many other players are enjoying stringing and products services.

Before the first match, Ana Ivanovic looked a bit nervous. But when we asked her "What is your favorite surface?", she answered,"May be hard coat, but now would be clay." And her brother said, "But may be it could be grass after another fortnight." "Don't pressure me." she laughed a reply.
Her victory in Roland Garros must have given her confidence.

According to Ana's coach, she places her confidence in the Yonex International Stringing Service. She has been enjoying yonex stringing services since the Australian Open this year, she has felt the tension is stable.
Actually she has compared the racquets strung by yonex stringing team with ones by others, she says the string tension strung by yonex team is always stable and the results of the Australian Open and Roland Garros gave her trust in the Yonex International Stringing Team. We are glad to hear this.

For tomorrow's games, Mario Ancic and Ana Ivanovic requested us to string their racquets.
Mario had requested us to string 5 racquets on the day before Wimbledon started, June 22, including other players' racquets, we had to string 29 racquets a day.
Yesterday, Michaella Krajicek brought us her racquet, she was really cheerful and pretty.

In this Yonex Wimbledon house, we can see the almost live games on the TV. We are cheering for the players on the TV stringing their racquets in this room!!

The 1st day at Wimbledon, it was absolutely glorious, warm and sunny.
Yonex players won their opening round matches at this year's grass court Grand Slam.

Ana Ivanovic (RQiS 1 Tour), who was the winner of Roland Garros three weeks ago, appeared in Centre Court and met Paraguayan Rossana De los rois.
Ana coasted to the next round with a 6-1, 6-2 victory though she needed a little time to concentrate on the first set. After the game, Ana threw kisses to all corners of Centre Court. She will face Nathalie Dechy (FRA) in the 2nd round.

Lleyton Hewitt (RDS 001) prevailed against Robin Haase (NED) with a full-set battle, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-2. During the match, the Netherlander needed a medical break so Lleyton felt a little bit frustrated in that set.
However, he had a good patience and advanced to the next round. He is going to meet Albert Montanes (ESP).

Zheng Jie (RDS 003 MP), Nicole Vaidisova (RQiS 2 Tour), Mario Ancic (RDS 002 Tour) and Mischa Zverev (RDS 001 MP) all advanced to the next round.
Especially, Nicole, who was the quarter-finalist in the last year, became the first player who reached the 2nd round at Wimbledon with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Lleyton, the 2002 champion, is seeded at 20. This is seven higher than his world ranking.
David, the formar finalist of Wimbledon, advenced to the semifinals in the Artois Championships last week.

The victory of Ana Ivanovic in Roland Garros is very fresh in memory. On the other hand, we have been waiting for the Grand Slam title in Mens event since Lleyton Hewitt won Wimbledon title in 2002.

Lleyton Hewitt with RDS001, who reached 4th round in the last Wimbledon, have had a hip injury and it was doubtful if he could play in Roland Garros.
However, he reached 3rd round and showed his toughness in the final set of the match against D.Ferrer.
He was winner in '02, semifinalist in 05, Quarterfinalist in '04 and '06. We hope to hear him shout a lot of "Come on!" because Lleyton and Wimbledon go together!

David Nalbandian with RDS 001 MID PLUS, 7th seeded in Wimbledon, who was the opponent of Lleyton in Wimbledon 2002.
He won 2 ATP Masters title last year defeating Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in each tournament. He has been in good condition in 2008 and won ATP Buenos Aires Copa Telmex in February.

Juan Monaco with RDS001 made great strides in 2007. He started 2007 season with ATP ranking of 69th.
His first ATP title was in his homeland Buenos Aires in

February and won twice in Austria, May and July. In Roland Garros and the US Open, he reached 4th round.
These results made his ranking up to 23rd at the end of the year.
He has kept his good condition in 2008 as well, and marked his career high ranking of ATP 14th.

Mario Ancic with RDS002 Tour. He had to withdraw from competition for several months in 2007, however, at the end of 2007 in ATP Masters Madrid, he reached the quarterfinals beating world no.8 James Blake.
His first tournament in 2008 was the Marseille Open, and in the tournament, he reached the finals beating the Australian-Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Marcos Baghdatis on the way.
We hope that he will produce many aces in Wimbledon.

This year, we are going to have the Middle Sunday Party at the Yonex House near the All England Lawn Tennis Club as usual.

The Sunday during the Wimbledon Championships is familiar to people as "Middle Sunday", and Yonex staff and players all gather for the lunch party every year.

Traditionally, no games are held on the Middle Sunday in Wimbledon, so we started to hold the party on the Sunday and it became an annual event.

Last year, Lleyton Hewitt, Nicole Vaidisova, Michaella Krajicek, Akiko Morigami and others visited the house, talked a lot about tennis.

In addition, the official stringers who were stringing inside of the stadium also came to the house. Players seemed to be really interested in the Yonex stringing machine, ES5PRO and asked the stringers questions one after another.

Everyone looked relax at all and had a good rest.

We are looking forward to seeing the lineup of yonex players on the coming middle Sunday this year, too !
