Adcocks Seize Swiss Open Title

English pair Chris Adcock (VTZF2, SHB01LTD) and Gabrielle Adcock(VT80, SHB01LTD) seized the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold title this past Saturday. Greysia Polii (ARC-FB, SHBF1NLX), in women’s doubles, was the runner-up.
Winners of 2013’s Hong Kong Open and ranked 5th in the world, Chris and Gabrielle had to get past two Chinese pairs in their fight for the title. They faced Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin in the semifinal, who they also met in the Hong Kong Open final. Despite being a tough match, Chris/Gabrielle came out victorious with a score of 21-18 19-21 21-17.
In the final match against the other Chinese pair, Chai Biao/Tang Jinhua, Chris/Gabrielle made it out of the first game by the skin of their teeth. The English duo stayed on their opponents aggressively, bringing the game to 14-all at a point. Chai/Tang broke under the pressure from Chris/Gabrielle, with the English duo taking the game at 21-17. Chris and Gabrielle went on to command a huge lead in the second game. Maintaining the lead from the very beginning, they closed the match with a straight, 21-17 21-13.

Greysia and her partner Nitya Krishinda Maheswari defeated Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP)/Christinna Pedersen (NR800, SHB-01LX) in the quarterfinal and were the runners-up after a tough match against Chinese Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua, ending at 19-21 21-16 21-13.
