Denmark & Thailand Win the Bronze Medals

Date
27 May 2013

This was the ninth time for Denmark and the first time for Thailand to win a bronze medal at the Sudirman Cup.

The semi-finals were held on Saturday, May 25th. Denmark faced China and the highlight of the match was the men’s doubles between world No. 1s Mathias Boe (VT80)/Carsten Mogensen (ARC-FB) and former world champions Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng. Mathias and Carsten took the initiative in overhead shots. They secured an amazing 19 smash winners against their opponents’ tally of just four. Mathias and Carsten defeated the doubles specialists by 21-16, 21-17, although China defeated Denmark by 3-1.

In the other semis, Thailand faced South Korea. Their play throughout the event was very exciting, especially the victory over Japan in the quarterfinals, even though they didn’t manage to advance to the finals.

At this event, some YONEX players wore the limited SHB01LTD colours. Please check our website for details of this high-end model.
