Four Titles for YONEX Players in London

At the first London Grand Prix Gold, YONEX players captured 4 titles. It was held from October 1st to 6th in Copper Box Arena. The titles were won by Carolina Marin (VTZF) of women’s singles, Mathias Boe (VT80)/Carsten Mogensen (ARC-FB, SHBF1NLTD) of men’s doubles, Christinna Pedersen (NR800, SHB01-LX)/Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP) of women’s doubles and Michael Fuchs (VT80)/Birgit Michels (NR700FX) of mixed doubles.
A 20-year old Spanish No. 1 Carolina faced Kirsty Gilmour (VT80) from Scotland. Carolina struggled during the first game to allow the opponent a huge lead at 15-8, however, she caught up at 18-all with her superb game control. After winning the game by 21-19, Carolina dominated the rally to finish the game and won her first ever Grand Prix Gold title.
The silver medalists of World Championships 2013, Mathias and Carsten faced young Indonesian Berry Angriawan and Ricky Karanda Suwardi. They put the opponent a huge pressure to take devastating 17 smash winners while the Indonesian made just 7. “We are delighted that we won the tournament”, Mathias and Carsten commented on their Facebook.
Christina and Kamilla, who are the finalists of YONEX OPEN JAPAN 2013, played against fellow Danish Line Damkjaer Kruse (NR800)(DEN) and Marie Roepke (VTZF). Christinna and Kamilla lost the first game, however, they won the nail-biting match with 12-21 21-17 21-15 in 57 minutes. After the match, they told to their fans on Facebook, “We are so happy and proud!” Kamilla also brought the first tour title for YONEX’s new racquet NANORAY Z-SPEED.
In the mixed doubles, former world No. 6 Michael and Birgit of Germany showed their potential to be back on the top stage. The second seeded German duo defeated No. 3 seed Chris Langridge and Heather Olver by 21-19 21-14 to win the title.
They are now preparing for the next tournament, YONEX Denmark Open (Oct. 15-20) and YONEX French Open (Oct. 22-27). Please look forward to their another performances.
