Lee Chong Wei & Ratchanok Inthanon Crown India Open title

30 April 2013

World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei (VTZF, SHB01LTD) participated in his first tournament after the birth of his son at YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2013. After winning the final against Kenichi Tago of Japan, he took the first title as a father. A teenage sensation Ratchanok Inthanon (ARC-FB, SHB01-LX) won her first Superseries title and she established the record to become the youngest ever Superseries winner as 18 years and 82 days old.

Chong Wei put Kenichi much pressure with his devastating smash and exceptional defense so that Kenichi made more errors. It was the 13th meeting between them and Chong Wei extended the head-to-head record, 13-0. The final score was 21-15 18-21 21-17.

With her new racquet ARCSABER FB, Ratchanok earned her 6th straight winning against German’s ace shuttler Juliane Schenk. Ratchanok rallied to move Juliane around the court and earned 13 net winners while the opponent made just 1. The score was 22-20 21-14.

2011 India Open winners, Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna of Japan reclaimed the title by defeating Danish Christinna Pedersen (NR800, SHB01-LX) and Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR800), 12-21 23-21 21-18.
