YONEX Renews Contract with Badminton Association of Thailand

On June 16th, 2014, YONEX renewed its partnership with the Badminton Association of Thailand as the official equipment supplier. In addition to providing the association with badminton equipment, YONEX will also act as the sole sponsor for equipment used in the Thai Open, as well as act as the association’s official shuttlecock supplier.

Badminton has seen sustained popularity in Thailand for decades, but in recent years the sport has especially taken off due to the fantastic performances of Thai players. 2013 saw Thai player Ratchanok Intanon’s victory at the BWF World Championships, defeating the world’s top-ranked player in the final, and becoming the world’s youngest world champion. 2013 also saw Thailand receive their first bronze medal at the world mixed teams badminton championship, the Sudirman Cup, taking the country into the ranks of the best international teams.

YONEX has always had its eyes set on global business development, and within that Asia is the most important market for badminton. Thailand is home to an especially large number of badminton enthusiasts, making it a key player in the Asian market. With the renewal of this contract, YONEX is confident that activities in Thailand will only continue to expand further.
