Yonex signs contract with Korea National Badminton Team

Seoul — Yonex Co., Ltd. and the Badminton Korea Association (BKA) signed an agreement at a press conference on January 7th that makes Yonex the official equipment provider to the Korea National Badminton Team.

Korea and its national team have long been a revered badminton power, in both men’s and women’s disciplines, having won the last Sudirman Cup in 2017, for example, as well as taking gold four times in total. Yonex previously held a contract with the Korean National Team from 1982 until 2009, and this renewal will renew and reinvigorate that relationship. Yonex has agreed to provide racquets, apparel, bags, shoes, shuttlecocks, etc. to the team, and will further cooperate with the BKA in efforts, such as the support of junior athletes, to promote and develop the sport of badminton in Korea.

Park Ki Hyun, President of the BKA, said, “Recently, there have been ups and downs, however Yonex believes in the potential of badminton in Korea. We are pleased and promise our best efforts to improve the level of competition in our national athletes through cooperation.”

President of Yonex, Kusaki Hayashida added “Korea is a badminton powerhouse, and we are pleased to conclude a contract with the national team. We will also do our utmost to support the spread and development of badminton in Korea.”

Contract Outline

  • Full provision of equipment for the Korea Badminton National Team, including racquets, strings, shoes, bags, apparel, accessories and shuttlecocks
  • Cooperate with BKA to develop badminton in Korea, through efforts such as supporting junior players
