Mardan Mamat Becomes Champion at Home
- 27 November 2013
YONEX golf player, Mardan Mamat of Singapore, competed in the 2013 Goodpack SPGA President Cup held at the Warren Golf and Country Club last week. The 46-year-old veteran golfer played consistently through the three days to win the cup at home.
Mardan started the third round in fifth place on 142 behind Quincy Quek, who had a fourth-shot advantage over Mardan. However, the 2006 Singapore Masters winner had solid form in the final day to post a two-under 69 for victory with five birdies at the 2nd, 8th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes.
The local newspaper “The New Paper Singapore” reported Mardan’s win. He was pleased with the YONEX driver performance to play well at the event, “I was driving well, thanks to my new YONEX driver which I have been using for the last four weeks. It is also giving me an extra 15 yards in distance,” according to the article.
Mardan is going to join the Asian Tour’s Indonesia Open this week. We believe that he can carry this momentum to the next tournament.
