- 16 January 2014
On the third day of the Australian Open, eighth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G) progressed to the next round after a solid defeat over Colombia’s Alejandro Falla with a 6-3 6-3 6-7(4) 6-4 score line.
Since qualifying for the World Tour Finals and reaching the world’s top 8 last year, Stan has been playing with a lot of confidence lately. Tennis fans are starting to keep their eyes on his performance, and are eagerly anticipating his further achievements this season. Stan really enjoyed yesterday’s match, surrounded by crowds of excited fans. “I think it’s an amazing atmosphere, playing a night session at the Margaret Court. The fans are really into it. They’re really enjoying the match. They’re really loud. I think it’s always fun to play,” said Stan, according to the Australian Open’s official website.
In the second round against Alejandro Falla, Stan stayed on the offensive, scoring 9 aces and 61 winners throughout the match to come out on top. Putting pressure on his opponent with the creation of 17 break chances, Stan overpowered the Colombian player to advance to the next round. He will face No. 28 seed Vasek Pospisil of Canada in the third round.
As of this Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, Stan started playing with YONEX’s new tennis shoes. His shoes of choice are the SHT-PROEX, which are designed to provide maximum support, smooth movement and energy transfer on any court surface
In addition to the POWER CUSHION, this model has three outstanding features to assist with your footwork, especially when conditions get tough on court.
