Hewitt Becomes Runner-up in Newport

Date
16 July 2013

32-year-old veteran Lleyton Hewitt (VCORE Tour 97) entered Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport last week. No. 4 seed Australian became the runner-up for two consecutive years defeating the 2011 and 2012 champion John Isner en route.

Lleyton faced John Isner in the semifinals. The No. 2 seed American has an extremely powerful serve with his 206cm height, but Lleyton made 15 break chances against such a big server. Capturing 5 breaks throughout the match, he defeated the opponent in 2 hours 11 minutes with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 score line. They also met at the last year’s final in Newport, and Lleyton revenged a defeat.

In the WTA event, Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) competed at Hungarian Grand Prix with Lucie Hradecka. They faced Nina Bratchikova / Anna Tatishvili in the final and overwhelmed the opponents in straight sets [6-4, 6-1]. Andrea won her thirteenth WTA doubles title in her career.
