Jaume Runner-Up in 2014 Roland Garros Boys’ Singles

09 June 2014

It was an exhilarating final weekend at 2014’s Roland Garros, with Jaume Antoni Munar Clar (EZONE Ai 100PTGP125) confidentially rising up through the ranks of the tournament. June 6th, Day 13 of the tournament, saw Jaume against fifth-seeded Quentin Halys of France in the semifinal. Jaume once again boasted a top performance, this time against a higher-seeded rival. Exhibiting an aggressive game, the young talent managed to win 79% of his first serve points, four break points, and two aces. Maintaining an excellent record of not letting his opponent take a set, Jaume once again came out of the match with a straight-set victory, 6-4 6-2.

Jaume then went up against Andrey Rublev in the final. It was a tough match, with Jaume coming down strong in the second set and taking it down to the wire, scoring five aces, and five winners—both four more than his opponent. That said, while he couldn’t take the title, he’s had a good tournament this year, exhibiting a strong assertive performance, and he will certainly be a player to look out for in the future.

Jaume had this to say about his racquet and his strings after the semifinal match, “Racquet and strings worked perfectly!!!! They were making spin with control for all shots and helping me to be aggressive. Thank you for all!!!”

Jaume’s POLYTOUR PRO 125 strings are softer, designed to deliver the maximum amount of control on hard hits, perfect for those who want to play aggressively. Matched with his EZONE Ai, Jaume can hit at high speeds utilizing the racquet’s revolutionary frame shape along with its unique NANOMETRIC material.

Sights are now set on this year’s next Grand Slam tournament, the Wimbledon Championships. YONEX’s players will without a doubt display amazing performances there as well, so don’t miss it!
