Jaume Through to Round 2 in Roland Garros Junior Doubles
- 03 June 2014
Coming off of his singles win in round 1 yesterday, the young Jaume Antoni Munar Clar (EZONE Ai 100, PTGP125) of Spain took another victory—this time in doubles—on June 2nd 2014, day nine of Roland Garros. Pairing up with fellow Spaniard Pedro Martinex Portero, the two squared off against Daniel Appelgren and Wei Qiang Zehng. The eighth seeded pair demonstrated a great performance, converting five of six break points, landing an ace, with a total of 59 points won between the two of them. They took the match in straight sets at 6-4 6-2. Day ten sees Jaume on double duty, facing Martin Blasko of Slovakia in singles, and then setting foot on the court once more with his partner for a doubles match against Boris Pokotilov and Nino Serdarusic. Be sure to keep an eye out for where he goes next!
Day ten will also see Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) take to the clay with his partner Maximo Gonzalez against Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Juan and Maximo claimed a champion title on clay courts back in 2008 at the Open de Tenis Comunidad Valenciana (now known as the Valencia Open 500) taking the final match in straight sets at 7-5 7-5. Don’t miss what these two have in store for us!
Juan is exhibiting great performance with his VCORE Xi 98. In a recent video interview that we posted, he had this to say about his racquet, “The ISOMETRIC head shape helps my game so much. It gives me a lot of power, especially when I hit power shots. This racquet responds really well and I’m extremely happy with the way it works.”
