Monaco Finishes as Finalist in Kitzbühel
- 05 August 2013
Argentina’s Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) is in good form to reach the quarterfinals at three consecutive tournaments after Wimbledon. Furthermore he became the finalist at bet-at-home Cup in Kitzbühel last week.
It was his first entry since he won this tournament in 2007. After defeating No. 7 seed Albert Montanes of Spain in the semifinals with a 7-6(2), 7-5 score line, Juan faced another Spaniard, Marcel Granollers for the title. He made a great start to capture the first set with 3 breaks, giving away only nine points. Juan showed us robust performance at his second final in this year, though he lost the close match.
This year’s last Grand Slam tournament, US Open is approaching, and YONEX players compete at the preliminary tournaments to make preparations for the hard court event in New York.
Meanwhile the former world No.1 Martina Hingis (EZONE Xi, PTGP125) played the doubles event with Daniela Hantuchova. Martina made a great comeback with an overwhelming victory against Julia Goerges / Darija Jurak in straight sets [6-1, 6-1]. They also decided to enter Rogers Cup in Toronto this week.
