Moriya Makes First Grand Slam Appearance

27 August 2012

The major championships US Open will start today, August 27th.

In the third round of the qualifying tournament, Japanese player Hiroki Moriya (VCORE 98D, PTGSPN) faced off against Daniel Kosakowski for the main draw. He won the last two sets after losing the first set. The final score was 4-6 7-6(5) 6-3, Hiroki earned his chance to play in the US Open tournament. It will be his first Grand Slam appearance.

No. 14 seed in women’s singles, Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) is ready to play in the US Open. Last Saturday, August 25th, she met Petra Kvitova in the final of the New Haven Open. Maria was a runner-up, losing the close match by 7-6(9) 7-5. We hope that this result will boost Maria in the US Open.

Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) / Lucie Hradecka are seeded as No. 3 in the US Open’s women’s doubles. The Czech pair were finalists in the New Haven Open. Also, they were runners-up at Wimbledon 2012 and the London Olympics. We hope that Andrea and her partner will achieve great results in the US Open.

No. 18 seed in men’s singles, Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) is wearing YONEX’s SHT-308EX. Announced earlier, his shoes won in Tennis Addict’s performance test out of 14 other models (9 brands).

The YONEX Power Cushion absorbs shock, and then reverses the impact energy for smooth transfer into the next movement. Compared with Flexible Urethane, the YONEX Power Cushion construction provides three times more shock absorbing power.

SHT-308EX will reduce Stanislas’ fatigue on the US Open’s hard court, and support his aggressive movement.
