- 05 June 2013
Following Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) and Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125), doubles expert Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) also advanced to the quarterfinals in the women’s doubles event of Roland Garros 2013.
Pairing with the fellow Czech Lucie Hradecka, Andrea became the doubles champion at the biggest clay tournament in 2011 and also reached the semifinals last year. This time, the Czech duo entered as Number two seed and won the third round match against thirteenth-seeded Chinese pair Zheng Jie (EZONE Xi 98, PTGSPN) / Zhang Shuai in straight sets [6-3, 7-6(0)]. Their quarterfinal is taken place today and Andrea’s pair faces Cara Black / Marina Erakovic to reach the semifinals for three consecutive years.
At the same time YONEX young players compete at the junior event. Croatian hope Borna Coric (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) progressed to the third round of boy’s singles after defeating German Maximilian Marterer by 6-3, 6-3. Meanwhile, in the girl’s singles, Belinda Bencic (EZONE Xi, PTGH125) moved ahead to play in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 victory against Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Aiming for further progress in Roland Garros, Stan and Maria fight their quarterfinal matches today.
