Roland Garros 2013 Qualifiers Start Today

21 May 2013

The upcoming Roland Garros 2013 is held from May 26th to June 9th. The qualifiers draw was announced on the tournament official website, and some YONEX players entered the qualifying event to stand on the biggest stage in Paris.

The world top junior player Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Xi 98), who has received a wild card for the men’s qualifier, will enter the main draw since he has replaced the fellow Australian John Millman who withdrew due to the injury. It’s the first time for the 18-year-old hope to play a Grand Slam main draw, and he got an opportunity to step up and challenge the most advanced group.

Today Japanese young Hiroki Moriya (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN) appears on the court to face Gastao Elias of Portugal at the 1st round of the men’s singles qualifier.

The YONEX stars are ready for the climax event of this clay court season. The 2008 Roland Garros winner Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) is looking forward to play in Paris again this year, “I have had some good wins on clay this season, especially against Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100) in Madrid Open, who is obviously a great player. This gives me confidence and makes me even more excited about playing in Paris. The French Open is my favorite event - I have such good memories of the tournament and I am looking forward to competing again there. I always receive such kind support and that’s another reason why I love playing there.”
