VCORE Players Advance to Quarterfinals

27 September 2012

Wednesday, September 26th saw the 3rd round of women’s singles at the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis. 2 VCORE players showed brilliant performance and advanced to the quarterfinals.

No. 5 seed Angelique Kerber (VCORE) faced Urszula Radwanska and dominated throughout the match. She had an overwhelming victory in straight sets, 6-1 6-1. Today Angelique will play against world No. 1, Victoria Azarenka.

Another VCORE player, No. 10 seed Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE) defeated last year’s Roland Garros champion Na Li by 4-6 6-3 6-4. Since Caroline was unable to advance after facing Na Li in the semifinal of the 2011 Australian Open, she said she was very pleased and very happy to win and advance to quarterfinals this time.

In this tournament, YONEX is supporting athletes as the official stringer. With four members, they string about 60 racquets per day in the booth. “We receive various requests from players, so we are working hard to respond to their expectations,” commented one of the stringers.
