Hewitt, Monaco and Ivanovic Advance to 2nd Round

At the opening day of Wimbledon 2013, June 24th, two VCORE Tour players Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) and Lleyton Hewitt (VCORE Tour 97) appeared on the No. 1 court to fight the first round match.
Throughout the match, world top ten-ranked Stan played aggressively earning 12 service aces and 44 winners, but 32-year-old veteran Lleyton had good defense against Stan’s attacking and showed persistent performance to make 15 break chances while Stan did 10 times. The 2002 Wimbledon Champion had experience enough to overcome the eleventh seeded Swiss player with 6 breaks, and won the opener in straight sets [6-4, 7-5, 6-3].
Number 22 seed Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) also fought his opener and faced Bastian Knittel of Germany yesterday. Juan was solid especially in his service games and secured 78% of his first serve points. He defeated the opponents in 1 hour 37 minutes with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 score line.
On the ladies side, No. 12 seed Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) stood on the first round stage to meet France’s Virginie Razzano. After winning close first set by 7-6(1), Ana overwhelmed the opponent capturing all of three break chances without losing any games in the second set.
