VCORE Successes: Monaco Wins in Houston & Kerber Captures Copenhagen Title

16 April 2012

At the ATP250 US Men’s Clay Court Championship, No. 4 seed and wild card Juan Monaco defeated No. 2 seed John Isner, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, capturing the title. During the final, Juan broke the big server’s service game 3 times.

“Today we played a great final, it was a really tough match. I fought until the last point and finally got the victory. This is the second title of the season and it gives me confidence to face the European Tour," commented Juan on his Facebook page.

Another VCORE player, Angelique Kerber (VCORE 100S) won her second WTA title at the e-Boks Open in Copenhagen, Denmark. No.2 seed Angelique faced No.1 seed and defending champion, Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE 100S) in the final. While it looked like Caroline was leading the match in both sets, Angelique exhibited amazing performance, and triumphed in the end with a score of 6-4 6-4.

In the women’s doubles final, Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm (S-FiT) and Rika Fujiwara (S-FiT) won the title after defeating Sofia Arvidsson and Kaia Kanepi, 6-2 4-6 10-5.
