Croatian Borna Coric started playing tennis at five years old. In 2013, he made it to the semifinals in boys’ singles at both the Australian and French Open. That same year, he won the title at the US Open, bringing him to No. 1 in the junior rankings.

Going pro, he is very active on the ITF Futures circuit, winning five titles in 2013. He won his first Challenger title at the Izmir Challenger in 2014. In his first appearance at the US Open in 2014, he upset the no. 29 seed Lukas Rosol in the first round.
