Lleyton Hewitt (AUS)
Lleyton Hewitt became the youngest male ever to capture top spot, doing at when aged just 20.
His first Grand Slam success was in the 2000 US Open men's doubles. Earlier that year he had reached the Wimbledon mixed doubles final. Those displays ensured he became the first teenager to land a place at Tennis Masters Cup.
The following season saw him continue his rise through the rankings as he won the 2001 US Open with the Wimbledon crown following in 2002. He also claimed the Tennis Masters Cup in both 2001 and 2002.
Lleyton was a regular for many years in the Australian David Cup side where he holds the record for the most ties played.
