Juniors from around the world played the 12th Annual YONEX Junior Golf Championship 2019, now a WAGR event

Yonex Country Club, Nagaoka, Japan – The 12th Annual YONEX Junior Golf Championship 2019 took place from August 27th-29th at Yonex Country Club (Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture).

Since the tournament began in 2008, junior golfers have come from in and out of Niigata Prefecture to participate. A total of fourteen junior golfers from China and Thailand participated from overseas. This year’s tournament marks the first time that it has grown to be included in the World Amateur RankingsTM (WAGRTM).

The tournament took place over 8 days, and consisted of boys and girls grouped from lower elementary school, upper elementary school, junior high school and high school, with a total of 116 participants. It was a fierce battle with the winning score in every category finishing under par. In order to provide top juniors with the opportunity for further success, junior high and high school girls' division winners earn a place at the 2020 Yonex Ladies Championship, while second place winners earn a spot at the 2020 YONEX Ladies Qualifiers. On the boys’ side, first place junior and high school players earned a right to compete at the 2019 MyNavi ABC Championship (Hyogo Prefecture ABC Golf Club) Sponsor Qualifiers. The winners of each category were determined by best gross score.
