2018 Australian Open: Day 8

In an emotional 3-set thriller, 2016 Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber willed herself into the quarterfinals over Su-wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei. The former champ overcame the crafty opponent by raising her physical and mental game to give her the edge in the finals 2 sets.  Kerber will next face Madison Keys of the US.

After scoring his first Top 5 win, the NextGen champ Hyeon Chung stuns former 6-time champion Novak Djokovic in a convincing 3 set match. Chung becomes the first South male or female to reach the last eight of any Grand Slam. Chung’s clean strokes and athleticism lead to his victory over Djokovic, his childhood idol, which made the win even more special.  He will play American Tennys Sandgren who has continued his dream run after defeating Dominic Thiem in a thriller 5 set match.
