ASTROX 77: Steep Edge Attack

Yonex is proud to announce the ASTROX 77, set for worldwide release in mid-September.

In a world’s first, Yonex has utilized top-class Namd graphite, creating the ASTROX 77 badminton racquet.

Current top players in the world have many playing styles to take points from their opponent. Smashes are utilized to break opponents with a hit that rapidly descends to the floor with power and accuracy. Combined with a fast play speed, smashes of varying angles and power help players rout their opposition.

ASTROX 77 uses a world's-first, new dimension graphite material, Namd, which greatly improves the adhesive degree of graphite fiber and resin by attaching nanomaterial directly to graphite fiber. From the initial movement of the player to the impact, the new dimension graphite is difficult to harden, and the shaft extends and accumulates energy due to the speed of the fast swing. Since follow-through of the swing is smaller after direct impact with the shuttlecock, the swing speed drops and the new dimension graphite regains hardness and strengthens the resilience of the shaft, allowing the energy to explode rapidly before returning to its original state.

In addition, we use the grip end, to the frame top and the joint, to distribute weight throughout the racquet. The transition to the next shot can be performed smoothly with a rapid succession of powerful smashes. An attack-orientated model which can lead a high-speed game with a design which can deliver powerful, steep smashes allowing for more chances with the shuttlecock.

“Namd” New Dimension Graphite: More powerful shots

In high performance racquets, it is common to combine nanomaterials with resin that connect carbon fibers, but in Namd, nanomaterials are directly adhered to carbon fibers and the degree of adhesion between carbon fibers and resin is greatly increased. This major improvement enables more powerful shots.

Less momentum is lost, rapidly transition into next shot

By adopting a new design that allocates weight to the upper part of the frame, the joint part, and the end of the grip, less momentum is lost and preparation for the next shot is rapidly made it possible.

ASTROX77

Smash power up 7.1% (The difference between the initial speed and the final speed is minimized in order to be launched strongly)

Smash angle is 2.3° steeper

*Tested by Yonex (Measurements by swing robot)
