Four Team Yonex athletes in the WTA top 8

Tokyo, JAPAN – Team Yonex are showing remarkable strength in women’s tennis with half of the athletes in the top eight of the WTA Singles Rankings choosing to play with Yonex racquets.

The quartet of elite Team Yonex women have produced some of the most dazzling tennis of their careers this season, achieving soaring highs, big breakthroughs, and historic moments. Jessica Pegula (USA) is currently the highest-ranked Team Yonex woman at No. 4 in the world. Elena Rybakina (KAZ) is just behind her at No. 5, followed by Jasmine Paolini (ITA) at No. 6, while Emma Navarro (USA) is ranked No. 8.

Three of the Team Yonex players, in Pegula, Rybakina and Paolini, have already qualified for the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh, with Navarro looking to join them in that exclusive field.

Pegula achieved a childhood dream this season when she played in a first Grand Slam final, and that occasion was even more meaningful as it came at her home major, the US Open in New York City. Pegula’s highlights this season have also included winning titles in Berlin and Toronto.

Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion, played some exceptional tennis at the start of the season, taking three WTA 500 titles inside the first four months with victories in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Stuttgart.

Celebrated for her joy and energy – for always smiling on the court - Paolini has played some historic tennis across different surfaces this season. Soon after appearing in her first Grand Slam final on the clay of Roland-Garros, she reached her second on London’s grass courts, becoming the first Italian woman to compete in a Wimbledon singles final. Off the back of those results, as well as winning a WTA 1000 title in Dubai, Paolini has established herself as an elite player near the top of the rankings.

This has also been a breakthrough season for Navarro, who reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open before going on to make the fourth round at Roland-Garros and then a first major quarter-final at Wimbledon. But her deepest run at the majors came at her home Grand Slam, the US Open, where she made the semi-finals. In a season of so many firsts, the American also landed her maiden WTA singles title in Hobart.
