Roland Garros 2015: YONEX Ladies into Round 3

Day 4 of Roland Garros saw a series of victories for Team YONEX’s female tennis players.

In women’s singles, Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) booked her spot in round three, securing a victory over Japan’s Misaki Doi. The Japanese World No. 103 managed to snatch away the first set, but Ana engineered a swift turnaround. Demonstrating her inimitable groundstrokes, the World No. 7 grasped four consecutive games in the decider, serving out the match at 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Angelique Kerber (VCORE Si 100) seized a quick straight-set win over Alja Tomljanovic to advance into round 3. Continuing her remarkable performance on clay, Angie was a brick wall in the face of Tomljanovic’s attacks, knocking back everything that came her way. The World No. 11 German wrapped up the match by taking four consecutive games, recording a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Donna Vekic (VCORE Si 100) grabbed a straight-set win against Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia at 6-4, 6-3, moving into the third round. In doubles, Family Circle Cup champions Martina Hingis (EZONE Ai 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125, SHT-PROL) and Sania Mirza commenced their Roland Garros campaign, hardly tested by first round opponents Julia Goerges and Barbora Krejcikova. The two are now into round 2 after securing a 6-3, 6-0 win.

On the men’s side, Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G, SHT-PRO) is into the third round after defeating Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. The Aircel Chennai Open champion saw little trouble against World No. 67, scoring 53 winners and 11 aces. Despite dropping the close third set, Stan powered back, breaking Lajovic’s serve to close out the match at 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. He meets Steve Johnson in round 3.
