Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) faced off against Lucie Safarova in a very close semifinal match. The World No. 7 bolted to a 3-0 lead, continuing to go up to 5-2 in the first set. The match grew extremely tight, with Ana tying the second set at 5-all with a break point. While Ana is unable to advance to the final, she boasted an incredible run at this year’s Roland Garros.
In women’s doubles, Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, POLYTOUR PRO 125) is into the semifinals with partner Lucie Hradecka against Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova. The two faced Su-Wei Hsieh (VCORE Tour G, POLYTOUR PRO 130, TOUR SUPER SOLID-X 125) and Flavia Pennetta in the quarterfinal, winning the challenging three-set outing at 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Wins on day 12 included one from Spain’s Jaume Munar (EZONE Ai 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125) in boys’ doubles with fellow Spaniard Alvaro Lopez San Martin. The duo prevailed against Michael Mmoh and Akira Santillan in straight sets, fending off three break points and claiming three for their own. The final score was 6-3, 6-3.
